Open For Business

As of yesterday Urban Village Scooters is “officially” open for business!

What does this mean? Well, we’ve hung up an “OPEN” sign, and turn it on in the morning and off at night. ;-)

It also means we’ve completed our permitting and registration processes. Urban Village Scooters is a New York State Registered Motor Vehicle Dealer and Repair Station, authorized (and required) to collect sales tax and various other official taxes and fees. We have permits from the City of Rochester for retail sales and motorcycle maintenance. Etc.

Our hours are currently 10 AM to 8 PM, Monday through Saturday, and noon to 6 PM on Sunday. These hours may change in the future as we get more familiar with customer demands.

We may also close during the day, if the weather’s good, simply to go for a ride. After all, we like to ride just as much as our customers do!

Registration for the Basic RiderCourse is now open!

According to the Learn2Ride website, MCC is now accepting registrations for the Basic RiderCourse. The first session starts April 2, and sessions are scheduled through the third week in October. I counted 76 classes, meaning there is room for 912 students.

Aparently there is still a problem with the online registration process, so you will need to sign up in person.

These classes fill up quickly, so sign up early!

Tank Remote Control Instructions

All of the Tank scooters we’ve received so far have come equiped with a remote controlled alarm system. The instructions are written in hard-to-decipher “Chinglish”.

I recently found Chinese motor scooter alarm system instructions which demystify how to properly use the remote control features. I was especially impressed by the ability to adjust the sensitivity of the alarm. If you’ve ever been repeatedly interrupted in a meeting by the alarm on your bike reacting to a gust of wind, you need to read this!

MSF Experienced RiderCourse

March 1, 2007

The next step up from the Basic RiderCourse, the Experienced RiderCourse is for licensed motorcyclists who have ridden at least 1,000 on-road miles. It is a refresher course focusing on accident avoidance skills. Unlike the BRC, this course requires you provide your own vehicle (scooters qualify).

Find out more and sign up at learn2ride.net. Classes are scheduled throughout the summer.
