Everybody Wants a Buddy …

Scooter!

This is just a quick note to let you know that Urban Village Scooters is now an authorized dealer for the Genuine Scooter Company. We received our first shipment from them yesterday.

Stop by the showroom to see Buddy 50 and 125 scooters up close and personal!

Also in the shipment was a Rattler 110. That is one impressive scooter! (They’re all pretty impressive, but the Rattler stands out.) I can hardly wait to take it for a spin, or should I say sprint!

Open For Business

As of yesterday Urban Village Scooters is “officially” open for business!

What does this mean? Well, we’ve hung up an “OPEN” sign, and turn it on in the morning and off at night. ;-)

It also means we’ve completed our permitting and registration processes. Urban Village Scooters is a New York State Registered Motor Vehicle Dealer and Repair Station, authorized (and required) to collect sales tax and various other official taxes and fees. We have permits from the City of Rochester for retail sales and motorcycle maintenance. Etc.

Our hours are currently 10 AM to 8 PM, Monday through Saturday, and noon to 6 PM on Sunday. These hours may change in the future as we get more familiar with customer demands.

We may also close during the day, if the weather’s good, simply to go for a ride. After all, we like to ride just as much as our customers do!

Registration for the Basic RiderCourse is now open!

According to the Learn2Ride website, MCC is now accepting registrations for the Basic RiderCourse. The first session starts April 2, and sessions are scheduled through the third week in October. I counted 76 classes, meaning there is room for 912 students.

Aparently there is still a problem with the online registration process, so you will need to sign up in person.

These classes fill up quickly, so sign up early!

South Wedge Planning Committee announces its Business Plan Contest Winner!

For Immediate Release
January 3, 2007

South Wedge, Rochester - Kurt Schweitzer of Urban Village Scooters has been chosen as the winner of the South Wedge Planning Committee’s Business Plan Contest.

Urban Village Scooters is a new store front “boutique” offering scooters ranging from 50cc to 250cc. Perfect for inner-city and small town commuting, many of the 50cc models do not require a motorcycle license. The mission of Urban Village Scooters is to change the way we get around our city by providing a low cost, fuel efficient, eco-friendly transportation option.

Mr. Schweitzer’s business plan faced strong competition. He plans on using the $1500 Grand Prize to help defray the start-up costs for the business. Urban Village Scooters, located at 700 South Clinton Avenue in the city’s South Wedge Neighborhood, will be opening in the spring of 2007. The South Wedge Planning Committee would like to congratulate Kurt and thank everyone who submitted plans.
