Do I need special clothing to ride a scooter?
The law in New York requires you to wear a DOT certified helmet and eye protection. Beyond that it really depends on how much you value your skin. To test your clothing, go out in the street, run as fast as you can and take a flying dive into the middle of the street. That simulates a crash at about 10 mph, which is as fast as most people can run. Now imagine doing the same thing, only three times faster (30 mph). You’ll hit the ground three times harder, and scrape across the pavement three times longer. And that’s just on the little LMB scooters!
